Programme Aims

To provide students with sound practical knowledge of computing fundamentals as well as management and planning skills that are associated with the computing profession.

Graduates of the programme will be able to provide quality system and network administration. The programme also equips students with the academic foundation required for articulation into bachelor degree studies.

Further Studies and Career Prospects

Graduates will have the necessary foundation to develop careers as system administrators, network administrators, system programmers, Webmasters, or IT technologists. Graduates with sufficient working experiences will also be equipped with specialist skills for promotion to senior positions such as network designers, network specialists, technical support managers, or computer security professionals.

The Department of Computer Science, City University of Hong Kong, accepts our graduates with credit transfer to their Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Computer Studies and Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Computer Science. The Department of Electronic Engineering also our graduates with credit transfer to their Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Computer Engineering and Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Electronic Engineering.

In the past few years, the majority of graduates have continued to pursue degree studies in local tertiary institutes, overseas universities and off-shore programmes of overseas universities in Hong Kong.

The programme features an appropriate combination of requirements for: (1) Communication and Networking, (2) Application Programming, (3) Computer Organization and Security, (4) System Administration and (5) Professional Issues.

Special Features
CISCO
Students will gain hands-on experience in the CISCO products and various activities, such as technical visits, study tours, overseas exchange, internship and seminars, etc.

Admission Requirement

    General Entrance Requirements for Associate Degree Programmes;
    - OR -
    A recognized diploma/higher certificate in a relevant field,
    - OR -
    Reaches the age of 23 on September 1 in the year of admission with satisfactory work experience.
