Programme Aims

The programme aims to produce graduates with creative skills in digital media creation, digital photography, and interactive multimedia development which include digital image, animation, video, sound, special effects, user interface design, computing languages, and application logics.

This programme also prepares students for degree studies both locally and overseas.

Further Studies and Career Prospects

Graduates will be able to exploit the latest media and computing technologies in the creation of various media and interactive applications. They can take up job roles related to media creation and production, post media production, digital sound/video recoding and editing. Graduates will qualify for a wide range of positions in the media industry which include animators, multimedia producers, interactive multimedia system developer, production designer, and new media designer.

Graduates can continue their studies in a relevant degree programme, both locally and overseas. Examples are BSc in Creative Media and BA in Creative Media at the CityU, BA (Hons) in Digital Media at the PolyU, Bachelor of Design by Swinburne University of Technology, BA in Computer Animation and BA in Digital Media at Bradford University, BA (Hons) Design for Digital Media and Bsc(Hons) Design for Digital Media at the University of Winchester, BA in Electronic Media Design at the University of Sunderland, BA in Computer Animation and BA in Digital Media at Bradford University, BA in Digital Media at London Metropolitan University, BA in Digital Media Arts at London South Bank University, etc.

Main Subject Areas [Programme Curriculum]

The main emphasis of this programme is on the technology and development process underlying digital media production and interactive multimedia application.

The programme features an appropriate combination of requirements for: (1) Media design and creation (2) Interactive multimedia design and development, (3) Post production, (4) Computer system and programming, (5) LPractice and ethics, and (6) Language and communication skills.

Special Features

Students will be equipped with knowledge in both creative and technical sides of the field. They can join the internship scheme which enables them to obtain practical experience in an appropriate working environment.

This programme will help students develop and extend their creative potential and capacity to media production and interactive multimedia development.

Admission Requirement

    General Entrance Requirements for Associate Degree Programmes;
    - OR -
    A recognized diploma/higher certificate in a relevant field,
    - OR -
    Reaches the age of 23 on September 1 in the year of admission with satisfactory work experience.
